Current Opportunities

The Isle au Haut Community Development Corporation (ICDC) is accepting applications to rent one of its houses on Isle au Haut.  The ICDC was formed in 1990 to provide affordable housing and opportunities to attract new families to the island.  The program offers rentals for up to five years while new residents establish themselves and move toward independent housing.  Since its beginning the ICDC has brought numerous families to the island, many of whom have stayed or maintained long-term connections with the island community.

ICDC’s Coomb’s Mountain house is a three-bedroom home with an open kitchen and living room design, a mudroom, and a south-facing deck. The home is in a secluded location one mile from the Isle au Haut school and just over a mile from the Island Store, town hall and town landing. This home was one of two new single-family homes built in 2013 with support from the Maine State Housing Authority and the Genesis Community Loan Fund.

Rent: $775/month, utilities (propane hot water, kerosene heat, electricity) not included.
